TABOADA MORALES, A. A. y BALDIVIEZO SANCHEZ, F.. Health and salt consummation, a relationship with determining characteristics in adults.. Arch.Boliv.Med. [online]. 2017, vol.28, n.96, pp. 39-44. ISSN 0004-0525.
SUMMARY The consumption of salt in Bolivia is an issue that has not been investigated despite the im-portance it has for the type of food that its in-habitants take. The margins established by the World Health Organization indicate that its excessive consumption; that is, more than 5 grams per day, has health consequences such as hypertension, embolism, cardiac infarction, kidney failure, stomach cancer, fluid retention among other noncommunicable diseases that are the main cause of death at present. Peo-ple between 40 and 65 years of age correspond to the group of adults in society, which have an unhealthy lifestyle that prescribes their future health, this being the determinant of the patho-logies that may or may not suffer when they are older but many times the already mentioned diseases appear prematurely shortening the life expectancy. Considering that in Bolivia there is Law No. 775 of January 8, 2016, the Promotion of Healthy Eating Act that aims to establish gui-delines and mechanisms to promote healthy eating habits in the Bolivian population, in orderto prevent chronic diseases related to the diet, but it should be noted that the citizens' knowledge about it is alarmingly scarce, despite the impor-tance that should be applied to its compliance
