SUMMARY Introduction: The situation of malnutrition or malnutrition is a risk factor for many acute or chronic diseases, as well as a higher risk of hospitalization, institutionalization, impairment of functional capacity and quality of life, increa-sed use of health resources and finally, increa-sed mortality in the elderly. It is important to be able to answer the research question: What is the prevalence rate of malnutrition in internal older adults in relation to the semi-internal elderly of the 3rd age "Virgen del Carmen" reception center during the months of October, November and December 2016? Material and Methods: It is a quantitative study, observational, descriptive, transversal type. Our universe and study population are 35 older adults divided into internal and semi-internal, of which 20 are internal and 15 are semi-internal (diners) who attend the reception center. The research is carried out with the entire population that goes to the Shelter Center and in-cludes every Man or woman older than 60 who lives in the city of Camargo, who are interned or semi-boarding (diners) in the reception center of the Senior citizen "Virgen del Carmen". Results: The prevalence rate of malnutrition is higher in the condition of inmates, as it is repre-sented by 70% of the population, in relation to the prevalence rate of the semi-internal condition, which is represented only by 20%. Conclusions: Older adults have acute illness or recent psychological stress, with 93.33% in the semi-internal condition and 70% in the in-ternal condition. The majority of older adults do not present neuropsychological problems (66.67%), but this with a slight difference since 50% of inmates present severe depression or dementia.
