SUMMARY Vaginal infections affect women of all ages, both those who have sexual activity and those who do not. It is estimated that the risk of acquiring vaginal infections, in times of heat, increases by up to 50%, so preventive measures should be taken to avoid these discomforts. The types of infections are several but the most common are those caused by trichomoniasis and candidiasis being more frequent gynecological disorders. An observational, analytical and transversal descriptive study was carried out, with the objective of knowing the prevalence of vaginal infections in women older than 15 years, who belong to the " Cororo Health Center , during the 2016 administration For the present study, information was collected from the family folders, outpatient record book, Papanicolaou record and receipts/ recipe books. As a result of the investigation, it was possible to demonstrate that of the 100%ofthe patientswho were taken for the Papanicolaou test, 28% had a vaginal infection. The most frequent etiological agent was found to be Gardnerella vaginalis with 77%. The age group most affected by a vaginal infection was determined to be 20 to 24 years old with 41% being statistically significant, determining that 79% of the patients were asymptomatic being statistically significant. Of the total of patients, 62% of them did not collect the result of the examination and 79% of the patients did not receive treatment. It is concluded that health education is fundamental to be able to reduce the number of cases, leading above all to raise awareness among the population to carry out periodic controls.
