SUMMARY The prenatal control periodically monitors the pregnant woman in orderto carry out preventive actions, risk assessment, early detection of signs and symptoms of danger and / or alarm, initial management and reference of pregnancy disorders as well as of the obstetric and perinatal risk factors and, last but not least, the planning of the birth for a safe birth. The present work has as general objective: "To determine the Knowledge on the importance of the prenatal control, in women in fertile age of the municipality of Poroma, between the months Octoberto Decemberof the year 2016". The present investigation has a quantitative, observational, descriptive and cross-sectional approach. It was performed in a population of 101 women of childbearing age. The most outstanding results mention ignore the signs of danger during pregnancy, but it is striking that early prenatal control and its subsequent evaluations are very important. The most important conclusions were: The younger women in this study have a low level of education and most of them have been mothers; consider prenatal check-ups important; they know that the first control must be during the first trimester and at least three additional controls must be carried out; the benefit of prenatal control for both the mother and the newborn are good; It is defined that they do not know the warning signs and they know but they know that they should go to the Health Center.
