SUMMARY Introduction: Around the world, up to five mil-lion people are suffering from snake bites each year, an estimated 2.4 million and between 94,000 and 125,000 deaths occur each year, as well as some 400 000 amputations and oth-er serious Health, such as infections, tetanus, scarring deformations, contractures of sequelae and modification. Incidence and mortality data from snake bites in Latin America are, in many cases, incomplete for various reasons. Material and Methods: The research is quan-titative, observational, descriptive and transversal. The study population is 321 people, from which a sample size of 175 individuals with a 95% confidence level will be obtained. Results: The results show that more than 60% of the inhabitants do recognize the danger of snakes taking into account the characteristics of bites, most mention that the application of the tourniquet must be applied first and that these accidents are more present Summer season. Conclusions: The health service must work strategically with information about ophidian accidents; Understanding that actions based on beliefs can be dangerous to the lives of patients; The population must be careful at different times and avoid in those seasons where there are more bites of snakes using clothing taking care of their biosecurity. The health service must manage the access of the sera so that they can be used when the cases are presented.
