    Resumen

    The research study is performed in order to determine the origin, monthly financial budget and standard of living of the students in the Faculty of Medicine of the University of San Francisco Xavier de Chuquisaca in the city of Sucre, management 2014. With a quantitative approach, type of cross sectional study. The study population reaches total students (2974). For the analysis of economic standard of living a sample of 341 students taken. Having reached the following conclusions: The highest percentage of students in the Faculty of Medicine were female with 57.97%. The Faculty of Medicine in their classrooms hosts students from 11 countries and the Bolivian people come of the 9 departments. The highest percentage of students (80.94%) of the Faculty of Medicine, to continue his studies of professionalization are financially dependent of their parents or relatives. 9.68% of students working while studying. A student inside or outside the country, who come to study medicine requires a minimum budget of 1230 bs. monthly; of the 2974 students, Faculty of Medicine on 19.30% (574) benefit from some form of scholarship; the monthly contribution in scholarships for medical school reaches 334,000 bolivianos equivalent to $ 48,759. Proportionally 1 in 5 students have some type of scholarship. Of all students, Faculty of Medicine surveyed, 87.39% said having a level of economic life among just to live and sufficient; however there is a 12.61% indicating having financial difficulties. A statistically significant association (X2 = 8.93 and P-value 0.0028) between the variables “no scholarship” and “insufficient financial resources to live” is observed; Odds Ratio according to the students who have no scholarship have a 11 times more risk of having insufficient resources to live in relation to those scholarship
