    Resumen

    Summary Hepatitis B, liver disease caused by HBV can be transmitted through sexual intercourse, blood transfusion, puncture with a sharp materials contaminated with blood, and transplacentalroute. The virus is able to produce acute disease, but also chronic disease that may lead to liver cirrhosis and liver cancer, depending on the immune capacity of the host.For this reason, it is an urgent necessity, early detection of the disease. In this study, a survey of students in 2nd year of medical school at the University of San Francisco Xavier de Chuquisaca, about the risk factors for contracting Hepatitis B screening was performed at the same time held Ags VHB blood of each of them. The results showed the unprotected sex, piercings and accidents with puncture-proof material such as major risk factors for contracting hepatitis B. A single sample, presented positivity in immune chromate graphy test.
