"RELACIÓN ENTRE LAS CARACTERÍSTICAS DE POBREZA Y LA MORTALIDAD MATERNA, EN MUNICIPIOS DEL DEPARTAMENTO DE CHUQUISACA - BOLIVIA; DURANTE LOSAÑOS 2002 AL 2008" . Arch.Boliv.Med. [online]. 2012, vol.17, n.85, pp. 15-26. ISSN 0004-0525.
Poverty is the major cause for the occurrence of maternal deaths, no woman should die giving life. The average poverty in Chuquisaca reaches 70% with significant variations between municipalities. The distribution of maternal mortality ratio also differs according to the characteristics of each municipality, with an average of 185.69 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births, peaking at 680. Poverty is not only measured by a percentage of sufferers, there are different international measures undress details and causes of it. We performed a quantitative, cross ecodesign, during the years 2002 - 2008, where there were 168 women died, representing 100% ofthe study population. The only variables independently associated with mortality ratio in the multivariate analysis are: the Municipal Human Development Index (p <0.001), the number of nurses per 10,000 population per municipality (p <0.001) and the number of Nursing Assistants per 10,000 population (p <0.001). A minor Municipal Human Development Index, and Licensed Nursing Assistants, higher maternal mortality ratio. 86% of the women who died did not have a health service in your community. Also had no wagon road, and were walking out.
