    The present descriptive investigatión aims a diagnosis of risk academic factors that influence in student desertion of second year in Faculty of Medicine of University of San Francisco Xavier de Chuquisaca. To do so was identified; the risk factors most relevant within the academic determinants for dropout; the risk groups for college dropout. In this way was generated valuable reliable information in order to prevent the abandonment. Among the most relevant risk factors were identified: Academic performance (as approved subjects in firstyear), shows that more than halfofthe dropouts had two hauls from first year, rising to 82% with the addition of students with hauls from first year of medicine. In reference to the practice attendance was noted that a quarter of students missed classes at least once and 13% of students missed his practical classes three times without justification should have been reproved automatically; a third of dropouts did not perform its first partial examination, of these more than half owed a course and a one-third of those two courses; one-fifth of the dropout population were repeating the second year of medicine. It is intended that the results serve to sensitize and guide decision makers in the adoption of policies and strategies to reduce levels of repetition and dropout identified, contributing to the consolidation of a true quality of Higher Education in Bolivia
