VALDEZ CARRIZO, Edgar et al. Hiv Patients Comparative Study: Education To Achieve Therapeutic Viral Load Undetectable. Rev. Inv. Inf. Salud [online]. 2016, vol.11, n.28, pp. 11-22. ISSN 2075-6194.

Adherence to antiretroviral therapy (ART) with a level above 95% causes a decrease in viral load (VL) to be undetectable. Several studies showed that undetectable VL reduces the risk of HIV trans-mission and is the cornerstone of the strategy to end the AIDS epidemic by 2030. A VLthat remains detectable or increasing implies that the person has low adherence to antiretroviral therapy or presents resistance, which determines the presence of opportunistic infections. The main objective of the study was to determine the efficacy of therapeutic education model (TE) on adherence to antiretroviral therapy to reach undetectable VL in patients treated at the Institute for Human Development (IDH). This was a longitudinal, quantitative, descriptive and analytical study, using a prospective cohort for monitoring patients on ART, with VL receiving or not TE at ID H from 2013 to 2015. It was developed with people attending the outpa-tient clinic, who received TE sessions and others who did not receive them. 44 people were intervie-wed. 95,4% of people who participated in the pro-cess of TE, reached an undetectable viral load (p <0,001). The results showed the importance of the methodology to achieve an undetectable VL.
