VERGARA CASTRO, Luz Elena. The novohispanic manuscripts: tangible heritage, handwritten memories. Rev. Fuent. Cong. [online]. 2018, vol.12, n.54, pp. 33-39. ISSN 1997-4485.
SUMMARY The manuscripts of the Mexican Novohispanic period are the written memory of the scholarly circle that flourished in the New World. They are the evidence of those men who exchanged handwritten letters, experiences and information, and who formed the scientific communities of that period. These documents are the heritage of the Mexican nation; their structure has allowed those original texts, autographs or apographs, to be preserved, regardless time and the many social, political and cultural turmoil they have faced. It is necessary to continue with their identification, assessment and organization by the institutions safeguarding them, so we can continué obtaining information that complements or refutes previous research and inspires new approaches. This work is a general approach to the textual and material characteristics of the manuscripts, identified from a cataloging and bibliometric experience undertaken since 2011 in the Manuscripts Collection of the National Library of Mexico.
