Pollution in Lake Titicaca Lake is a growing problem, but the production of indexed scientific articles on environmental science, ecology and conservation topics is still limited. A considerable proportion of the information generated is published in Spanish in local journals, or remains as gray literature difficult to reach. Based on previous studies, we propose to develop four key research areas: (1) impact of production activities, (2) effects of nutrient enrichment on biodiversity, (3) identification of priority areas for conservation, (4) identification sources of pollution. Current information is valuable but is scattered, therefore it requires a systematization to put in order information already available and to identify gaps to make informed decisions.
