Abstract
CONDORI VELA, AURELIO and CLEMENTELLI O., ALFREDO. Tamaño y forma de la semilla del maíz y su relación con las características agronómicas y rendimiento en el cultivo. Invierno 2012.1. Univ. Cienc. Soc. [online]. 2013, n.10, pp. 33-39. ISSN 8888-8888.
This research was conducted at the Agricultural Research Center dependent Agronomical Engineering Christian University of Bolivia (UCEBOL), which is located at km. 11 on the north highway of the province Warnes. The area has an average annual temperature of 24.3 0 C and an average annual rainfall of 1439 mm. The aim was to study the shape and size (gauge) of seeds in relation to the productivity of hybrid maize during the winter 2012 campaign. Experimental design was a randomized block with 8 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments were seeds gauges based on height, width and weight of the seeds. From the results we observed a tendency that higher gauge of seed higher and plant height stem diameter at 30 days after emergence, with statistically significant differences. Measurement of plant height and cob for harvest, did not present significant statistical difference. In the number of rows per cob were found significant differences in seed smaller gauge, but in the number of kernels per row were no found significant difference between gauges. In the cob diameter and grain weight per cob, were also found statistically significant differences between gauges. In the weight of 100 grains and grain weight in the field variable, significant statistical differences were found. There is a positive linear correlation between the size or gauge of the seed with the agronomic crop properties, since all the correlation coefficients were greater than zero.
