We studied the metabolic syndrome in 350 patients, men and women in the age range of 35 to 65 years old, who attended between May and July of 2011 to the Central Bioclinical Institute (IBC) of the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra for a lipid profile. Werecorded that age range from 51 to 60 years old, in both sexes, is the most commonto indicate this syndrome, 121 patients presented arterial hypertension, 83.48 % of these patients showed metabolic syndrome and 42. 97 % was women. Also, 92.25% of 142 participants that had Hypertriglyceridemia showed the syndrome in study, males the most prevalent with 55.44 %. Therefore, itwas proved the necessity of the diagnosis of metabolic syndrome in persons with riskfactors.
