Metabolites were analyzed with the Wiener enzymatic colorimetric line method. For the reading the photocolorimeter Premier Plus was used. The treatment consisted of intake of 5 tablespoons offlaxseed blended in 1 liter of water for 3 weeks. The liquid intake was performed 3 times everyday before meals for 5 days and on the 6th the control of cholesterol levels, triglycerides and body mass index was performed. After the treatment with the birdseed blend the effect of reducing cholesterol levels was determined. This effect was more apparent in triglyceride levels after Week 3 post-treatment. Normalization wasobserved in 100% of participants who were with hypertriglyceridemia. There was no dampening effect on the body mass index.
